JFR's Lake Powell Journal - August 2024

Thanks, RB! Since I mentioned it, the update. Yaya Rhonda had a muscle adjustment to her right eye. She has dealt with a slight misalignment her entire life. Imperceptible to me unless she’s giving me the ol’ stink eye for my poor taste in humor. There I go again. AFTER the surgery I asked her why this eye doc (happens to be a pediatric eye specialist at Phoenix Children’s Hospital) recommended the surgery. Besides greed, no clue. Any who, swelling has subsided and she’s ready for Mahjong tomorrow. I’ll pass on that, a couple brews at the Fall League game in Scottsdale seems like a better deal.

And regarding you getting the 'ol stink eye for bad humor'.....I knew we had a lot in common...

I was concerned, tho, that after surgery she'd look at you and ask: Who are you and where's my husband?

An interesting thought, but probably unlikely. He's got a full head of hair, a mustache and those glasses. I wear contact lenses. And while I sometimes speak softly, I don't carry a big stick.

That just might keep your tent from being.....impinged upon or worse.....'relocated'.......

Next time a houseboat encroaches, tell them you're camped on & defending San Juan Hill.....see if they 'grok'......

you are a great writer JFR! very interesting read on a quiet Sunday afternoon. That Ramp problem, glad it all worked out! Into the great wilderness of Lake Powell and love when you have many places to yourself. The photo of nearing the town of Escalante on scenic highway 12 brings back memories. And... always some adventure at Lake Powell. Thank you for sharing.

The ramp was a weird problem, and I could never quite figure out exactly who to blame for not putting it back the right way, which is probably because it was my own fault. But if you write the story, you can tell it any way you want...

As for Highway 12, that is always a great ride... and lots of pictures from that leg of the trip, except since they weren't related to Lake Powell, I left them out...
