That's a convoluted argument. Machine occasionally isn't under complete control, therefore must be dangerous as a group. I could get hit by a flying Bible in an earthquake.

all boaters should have to go through training and a test on the water. Motorcycles have to, automobiles have to. It is only reasonable. You wouldn't hand the keys over to a harley with no motorcycle training or a car and for sure, not a PWC. PWC's should not be a protected class or other on the water power craft of any kind.

The problem isn't whether the people involved could pass the training. They could, and I am all in favor of compulsory training. The problem is the complete refusal to follow the rules after the training is over.
Ever get passed vigorously by a 17 year old in a car after he completed driver's training?

Thank you for the link, Grant. Reviewing it, three things come to mind:

1. Most jet ski accidents are caused by careless operation, often made worse by inexperience or alcohol.

2. Jet skis have no brakes and need gas to steer.

3. Deborah Norville looks good for a 60 year old.
