i tow a 12 ft mirrocraft on a high wheel trailer awesome clearance i can launch a hundred feet away, i launch on rollers and return with a 2000 pound winch ,im getting old so it has to be easy under line easy old man style after 70+ years you kind of figger it out. i also kayak, nothing like a boil in a kayak.
I wouldn't hesitate to tow a small trailer down there, I just couldn't see a place to back a trailer to the water. Sounds like you have it figured out. I saw some track that I assume were yours from a couple weeks ago. I might have tried it in my old Toyota FJ with 35's, but not my F150. Unfortunately I didn't make it to the boil in time either. There's always a next trip.

there is a road going left before blue notch you will see tracks going south its what dallas calls pucker walk it first follow the tracks not the road up and over then 200 yards from the top go left again you have to look for the road that leads to the water word of caution stay on rock no mud rock only. and last time someone was stuck it was 800.00 for the pull and the people didn't complain .
Send me a pin when you get there. I looked it over both from land and sea.

First trip of 2024. My brother-in-law was down for the week and I decided to join him for a day. I headed down late after work on the 25th and went to Blue Notch with my Kayak. I put my date down as 26th because I didn't get to camp until about 2am on the 26th. Woke up early still and started putting the kayak together. I saw a boil back at the end of Blue Notch that lasted for about 15 minutes. By the time I got all set up and over there it was long gone and I didn't see another one the entire trip. My BIL was camped at The Horn and came and got me by about 10. We returned to The Horn and trolled most of the day only catching 10 on Friday. When I got back to Blue Notch I trolled up 3 more that evening from my kayak. The next morning it started out hot with 3 right off the bat. It then cooled down with nothing for about an hour when I caught two more real quick. One was close to the largest I've caught this year. I'll call it a 5 pounder;) It was fun being drug around on my kayak. I then went to Dungees Islands (peninsula) and realized I left most of my lures in my other tackle box. There was a boat there having pretty good success. I tried fishing for a little bit but wasn't having any luck and decided that I better head home so I wasn't driving at 0200 again. This was a short trip, but I really needed a Powell break.
Any details on depth and bait? Trolling speed? Are boils common this time in the winter?

I have a friend here in Huntington that has launched an 18 ft Crestliner with a 90 hp motor in there, but not sure what the water level was. I just wasn't wired for a slow 12 or 13 mile drive, I would much rather run from Bullfrog on water slow 😂
I've seen guys attach a wheel to the front of their trailer and winch it out, but I wouldn't advise it at this water level.

I am certain I went down the spot PFD is talking about, and he is right, steep, loose rock and sand. I walked it first and made the decision to go for it. Might not have been the smartest decision I've ever made. It took me 3 or 4 tries but I got out. I just had the kayak in the back of the truck and definitely wouldn't have tried it if I was towing anything.

That whole bunch of guys, Kurtley and Andy are passionate fishermen and great people. Let alone great fishermen, everytime I'm around any of them, I feel like I'm going to catch fish 😊
ky….come on amigo…l am sure those two gents are excellent fishers, would share
their techniques w/strangers, & are fun to be with. and they’re both probably as
modest as you.
but as a casual observer, reading your exploits for years, i would bet $$$ that you could
take out a dozen seals with you, & you’d catch the most fish!!
shore tent camping w/you & the ”seal dozen team” is another topic i’d enjoy reading.
final comment - no harm or fowl toward kurtley & andy. cheers to both of you.
if ky speaks highly, that’s good’nuff for us.

Blue Notch question; we were down on the Red Canyon side last April, but never seen the turn to the North to get into Blue Notch. Sq
Squirrel last year when you where down , you where only able to get down to thelake on the Red Canyon side . Lake is up 40 ft you turn to the right before Pucker down a draw to Blue Notch . Will try and post a picture of Last Wild Human trailer , he is set up to go down . But hopefully he can get some company when he is down there.
