Inflatable Kayak on Stanton Creek Shoreline

Hi folks!

I'm heading to Lake Powell for a handful of days in mid-May, camping at Stanton Creek with my two dogs. I have an inflatable kayak that I cruise around inland lakes here in Michigan that I was debating on bringing to explore a little better along the shore and into the little side channels. I realize Lake Powell is an entirely different animal, especially in terms of wind, so I'm trying to decide whether to bring it out with me. Anyone have any luck with inflatables in that area?

Welcome, If you don;t bring the kayak you will regret it unless you encounter the smb & striper boils again like we did in "Sept.2017" at Stanton. 5 days of boils within 50' of the RV. Sq

Agreed, Stanton is a great place for a kayak. That is usually where we go when its to windy on the main lake. The mussels could be hard on an inflatable, just be careful launching.

just keep a line attached to you or the shore at all times. LP winds can take that inflatable farther in 5 seconds than you can swim in an hour!

Thanks for the replies everyone! After camping through a couple of thunderstorms on Lake Powell, I was questioning my sanity for even considering kayaking but I really just want to explore the little coves and inlets near Stanton Creek and fish a bit. These two will have a ball I’m sure!!

You will be amazed at the number and size of the fish you will see if you quietly glide around. So worth it.
