I think you're right all the way around. The one thing Ranger still has is the best trailer in the business, and there's no doubt the Shorelander that comes with this boat isn't as good a trailer as what I would be getting with the Ranger. Nevertheless, since my towing trips will be rather short affairs (Greenehaven to the boat ramp or to the dealership in Page) this is not a real concern. And, the Shorelander is certainly not a bad trailer. It has four bunks instead of two which makes it much easier to center the boat when loading. Also, it does has one advantage over the Ranger trailer which is significant for me - a much longer tongue. Those Ranger Trail tongues are very short and, given that I tow with a short wheel base vehicle, short-tongued trailers swing rather easily. A longer tongue trailer will back straighter. Since my Greenehaven driveway is at a somewhat tricky angle, this could turn out to be a real blessing. It was always a bit difficult to back my old Ranger down that driveway and align it to back under the carport. This rig might be a lot easier for me to back!

We beat our Shorelander up and we’ve experienced to me, common issues. Had to replace a hub last year, six years into owning it, and I contribute that to a bearing getting wet because of my fault. Everything else has performed great with basic, personal annual maintenance.
