I’ve been house-boating on Lake Powell since the 1980s and owned a 43' Kayot for 25 years before we finally had to decommission her a few years ago due to insurance issues and leaking pontoons. I’m very familiar with the lake and follow the WW posts almost daily. Like many of you, I also keep a close eye on the lake elevation charts.
I’m looking for this community’s perspective on the best path forward with an Aramark rental out of Bullfrog that I booked for the first week of October. I made the reservation back in December—before the disappointing winter and snowpack changed the outlook. Aramark requires 100% payment upfront.
My deadline to change or cancel the reservation is July 1. My main concern isn’t low water itself—I’m used to the lake’s fluctuations—but whether I’ll be able to launch two powerboats (18.5' and 23') at Bullfrog in October.
At this point, I see three options:
Leave the reservation as-is and hope the primitive ramp is completed once the water recedes.
Move the reservation to 2027 for a $100 fee and wait to see how conditions develop.
Move the reservation to 2027, but if the primitive ramp is functioning by September, re-reserve a boat for October, assuming one is available.
Cancel the reservation now and take a $300 hit.
If I keep the reservation past July 1 and later need to cancel, I risk losing a significant portion—or even all—of the rental cost. Launching the power boats from the south end isn’t feasible for me.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
