Hite Temp Ramp @NorthWash

Dungee are you building that with the express purpose of north lake launching? Jet powered? We have an 18 foot modified V with 115 Jet that I've fantasized about launching up there and running down to find fishing.....this might make it possible.......

Have 2 jet boats, been running the Green and Colorado for years. Contemplating doing exactly that trip as I write this. Any comments on this adventure? Concerned about parking space for the 2 trucks and trailers for a few days.

I’m guessing you’ll have plenty of space at the launch site to park. Here a few photos of the parking area I took in May.

No not entirely. For a while now I’ve wanted to get/make/have a skiff. Even though that design isn’t necessarily the most practical for Utah bodies of water I’ve just always been intrigued by them.

Having launched other boats down Blue Notch I knew it was of course possible. So along the way I have tried to keep that within its possibilities but have now wanted it to be more versatile than that.

The real purpose behind this project is well 1: it’s been fun and I like having something I can work on when I can’t be fishing. 2: having a second boat in Utah does seem practical (can’t seem to convince my wife of this though…) due to mussels. If I can’t get the other boat cleaned in time but still want to fish I have another option now. 3: even though it’s turned out I can’t hand launch this skiff it’s still much more versatile if needed than the crestliner. I can put oar locks in and then swap whatever sized motor needed in case there are any restrictions somewhere.

But also yes! This thing will be launched at Blue Notch at some point just for the adventure of it, maybe even north wash. Currently I have a Honda 20 on it, but a jet option would certainly be in the cards if needed!

When it is finally done I’ll do an entire post/video on the whole project. It’s been really fun.

Would love to hear about your experiences if you do it. We live in GJ and run/catfish the Colorado from Palisade to the Utah state line in ours. What do you know about the rules in UT pertaining to upstream motorized travel? I seem to remember reading that it is not allowed, which has kept us from crossing the state line west of Black Rocks. If this is true, I wonder how it pertains to the North Wash situation, as the launch is technically still in the "pool" of Lake Powell if it had more water in it. Anybody have more knowledge on this?

Since this ramp seems to be primarily a TAKE OUT for runners coming from Cataract, and we would not be going upstream into Cataract, going south from there could be just a drift with very little traffic. The return upstream wouldn't see a big rush into traffic, just figuring out the channel may be the challenge. We run into this problem in low water years running upstream on the Green. I don't think under water obstructions will be a big problem as it's a lot of silt below, but not real sure. Any opinions out there?
