Heading to Wahweap wed.

Looks like a break in the weather wind wise.
Having some trouble with my fish finder, hopefully get it dalied in . Any one used the coin and level for adjusting transducer?
Can't seem to get good readings and lose depth.

Steve, I’ve got the Humminbird Helix 9, Humminbird told me that I need to install a 2nd transducer (thru hull) if I wanted it to display depth over 10 mph. I wish I had known that before purchase. Sq
Squirrel, I also have a helix 9 at the helm and I did add a second transducer to read depth at speed. They do make a high speed transducer that can be mounted on the back of the boat. I don't have the exact model number, but it is mounted next to my side imaging transducer and runs to the back of the unit and is plugged into a Y dongle. It has worked great for me at speed for depth. I just got back from the lake and am trying to get caught back up on work, when I get a chance I will try to find the info for you.

Stickbow, let us know how fishing is. We were going to leave from Carson City, NV, on Wednesday to stay a week and a half down around Wahweap; however, the weather looks marginal on Thursday and crap on Friday, so we delayed our trip for a few days.

Squirrel, here is a picture of my setup.
The transducer on the left is my side imaging, the one on the right is the one that allows me to read depth at speeds. It works really good.
The part number for the transducer is: XNT 9 HW T.
The part number for the y dongle cable is: 9 M SIDB Y

Both transducers are mounted to a transducer board allowing me to only drill two holes into the transom, and if I ever upgrade or change graphs, I drill into the board instead of adding more holes in the transom. Mine is from Berts Custom Tackle and was around $25, but I believe there are several companies that sell them.

Sorry OP for high jacking the thread, I would have sent this to Squirrel through messages, but thought it might be helpful to anyone else with the same issue.

Thanks for this information, it is very helpful. I’ve already have the splitter cable and very well may have a transducer out in my “Manfort” but I’m laid up for another 3 weeks or so and won’t be able to anything with the boat, it’s in Hanksville. Sq

If it helps any, my boat originally came with a Helix 7 at the helm and no side/down imaging, the down imaging was achieved through the trolling motor with built in transducer through my network hub. I upgraded to the 9 at the helm and a 10 at the bow and added the side imagine transducer which is shared through the network.

I too wish I had done more research before buying a helix. Every time I hit the electric start on a ten horse 4 stroke. The battery voltage would go down to eleven point six , and the depth finder would turn off. Hummingbird said , I needed to put it on its own battery. I told them I needed a different depth finder. Scheels wonderful customer service Gave me a full refund after more than 90 days.No questions asked.
