Just finished up the week house-boating and fishing in the southern lake. We stayed in Gunsight Canyon.
Lucky for us we found stripers boiling most mornings at flat islands/shortcut to padre bay.
They were up for 20-30 min around 8am topwaters and rattle traps worked great,
and then after tbe boils, we would find them deep. For Striper Schools 50 ft seemed to be the magic depth. We did find some boils and deep schools right in middle of gunsight as well.
Another school that we fished and did quite well was found on north east side of castle rock cut in 50-60 ft of water. These fish were all nice fat adults. It seemed to bite best when we marked shad balls as opposed to striper boils.
Fle Fly in white was the hot spoon. For surface action ZaraSpooks and we also caught several in white RedRum tube baits.
All in all another awesome trip to Powell.
