Gizzard shad

20260313_133336.jpgFound a floater gizzard shad near Lone Rock while trolling for stripers. This guy was 21 inches. Was not able to get a weight, but he was fat. Pretty impressive fish. Not the near record fish I was dreaming about... but interesting none the less!
Fun side note: I was there when the first gizzard was pulled from a gill net in the san juan about 25 years ago, working as a technician for Wayne.
 
Very cool. I was there with ya when we found them up the San Juan in 2002, and we even had Doug Miller come out and do a show to document it!
