Gizzard shad caught

We had a gizzard shad caught in Warm Creek over the past week. There is not much information provided but we do have a really good picture of the catch.

I netted some huge ones that were thrashing and flailing on the surface last fall...they make great cut bait!!!

Im pretty sure we saw a bunch of those swimming close to the sandbar right before Davis gulch Easter weekend. We could never catch any but I'm pretty sure that's what they were.

I am still trying to decide what that line is from around behind the top fin to his two fingers on his right hand. Looks like a plastic tie or something? Maybe someone can explain. Anyway a great picture.

Are you ready for the explanation? It is part of the big fin on the fish's back. Big fish - big fin.

I have picked them up and used them for bait , never seen that before . Thanks Wayne

Thanks Wayne, Now I know. If I ever handle one I will look for the fin. If the slime stinks that bad, maybe a picture is all I need.
