its a 2013 F350 so that wont be an issue. If I didn't already have tool box or had another need for the extra tank I would. But again like I said I can pretty much make it on one tank but as pointed out earlier that is not good especially if you run out in a diesel. Just one 5 gallon can would allow me to easily make it home without having to make an extra stop and doesn't take up really any room...I have an RDS 60 gallon auxiliary tank in my diesel. If I’m pulling my fishing boat, I can make the run from denver to Bullfrog round trip without stopping for fuel. Could probably do the same with the Malibu if I drove slower. Titan makes a 60 gallon replacement fuel tank for diesel trucks. In my mind, both would be better options than a 5 gallon jug, but that is just me.
Finally, is your truck a newer one with the capless fuel filler? If so, they are a bit of a pain to use a fuel jug to fill.
And to clarify I have never ran my truck down to 1 gallon, I always stop on the way back and fuel up. My trucks trip computer tells me how much gas I burned round trip which consistently is 35 gallons to and from powell.
