Fuel usage from Bullfrog to GHB

I have a 20 foot Nitro Bass Boat with a 150hp Mercury 4-stroke. Traveling 45mph between Wahweap and Dangling Rope (distance 40 miles) takes 6.0 gallons. So about 6.6 miles/gallon. I was planning to do day trips from Halls Crossing to Red Canyon next week. Hoping for 11 gallons round trip.
So you're saying you're lower unit get's 6.6 mph? :)

I got a 2006 Bennington 22 FSI tritoon but only 24 gallon tank with a Yamaha 200 4 stroke. I got room and use it xtra fuel is always with me I have 10 gal containers usually take 3-4 of them depending on situation. I haul all to camp spot unload and wala I got room and much lighter, I take about 4 fisherman on boat. It works for me and all stuff and people I take, speed/rpm are max 6000 loaded with all that I can hit 5500 when top out. I cruise at about 3500-4000 to conserve fuel Wahweap to back of Cookie Jar about 12- 15 gallons depending on speed/rpm I haven’t checked my speed but it’s faster than my previous 24 yr old fisher 20 ft with a mercury 50 pushing it. It takes me about 3/4 of tank to dangling rope about 18 gallons.

All great info but a heavy load is going to kill your gas mileage. Take what you think you should and maybe a little more. And then don't be afraid to burn up the extra trolling and changing locations. Good luck on your trip and post up some pics.

If your electronics are capable, I would recommend getting a fuel flow sensor. You hook it up directly to the fuel supply line, and it gives you precise usage --- then you do not have to guess!
Your fuel burn rate is more than anything dependent on the rpms you run. My best fuel economy ( 21ft starcraft with 250hp honda) is at about 3800 rpm -- I get a little over 6 miles per gallon at this rpm --- If I go up to 4500 rmp, by burn rate goes to 3.5 mpg ---

my graphs are lowrance gen 3s -- most of the newer graphs will allow you to read a flow sensor.

Yep I concur load=mpg but i like ice cold adult drinks when on water so ice is on supply to last a week till houseboat appears and life is good dang good. I'm still figuring stuff out on tritoon I will look into fuel flow sensor as long as its not related to the fetzer valve. enjoy
