Forgotten Canyon April 3-6

It is great to see pictures, and hear successful reports… We usually just do a spring trip, but I am very interested in those that have made it a priority to also fish in the fall at Lake Powell. Is it comparable to the spring bite? Is it tougher to predict the weather in the fall versus the spring?

For me, spring fishing is better for sheer numbers, especially small mouth. The fall is better for surface action and stripers. I prefer fall for weather. It's less windy.

I agree that the fall weather is better/more predictable vs the spring weather. Fishing wise, I have done equally well in the spring and fall, but I don't target just one species and will take what I can get.

We'll be staying up that way in 3 weeks. If you end up targeting lmbs and smbs, I'll be eager to hear how it goes. We primarily target bass so I'll be curious.
That’s what we’ll be fishing for too. I can tell you what we usually throw. We like the 3’ Fat Gitzit tube jig. We try a few different colors to see what works best. Seems like I gravitate toward the smoke metal flake in the last few years.

Hey all i am heading down this next Wed. thru Sun. When you were over in Knowles did you spot any good camping? Usually we go further up lake like our last trip but I thought we may camp a little closer to BF this time like you did. Thanks
There was some good sand in the back of Knowles! I didn’t notice how flat any of the spots were but definitely a couple good looking spots!
