Dave and or Grant,
How is the amount of water flowing in to Lake Powell calculated? I click on Dave's link to the river flows into the lake and haven't seen a three hour period less than 8,000 a.f. for at least three or four weeks. The "Inflow" column on the main water-data page is always much different, with sometimes an inflow larger than the outflow, but still a decrease in the lake elevation. I assume that there is no weir to measure the actual inflow, so you either are using a "best guess" method, or using the lake level minus the known outflow through the dam (with a guess at adsorption + evaporation) to come up with the inflow, regardless of the measured aggregation of the river inflows.
Or, is it something else?
