Here is a report from Michael Winward and his friend Jordan (12 years old) :
Michael and Jordan’s July 3rd – 5th Fishing Report
Our Lake Powell fishing adventure started out with night fishing as soon as we arrived. We began by dropping garlic chicken piece to the bottom of Wahweap Bay. We caught several catfish with the largest being three pounds. Surprisingly we also snagged a seven pound striped bass.
Day two found us on rocky outcropping. We used top water Rapala minnows to catch small mouth bass. We also used eight ounce spinner baits. We trolled behind our kayaks as we paddled. We caught fifteen small mouth bass with this method. Shore fishing proved less successful. We were out of chicken for night fishing so we used hotdog slices. We caught three large catfish.
On day three we caught catfish in the morning using our hotdog method. On our kayaks we trolled the western rocks of Wahweap and caught three small mouth bass using plastic minnows.
Wayne visited us in the evening and advised us to try jig baits. We went to the eastern shores of Wahweap and immediately caught small mouth bouncing the jigs off the bottom at 10 to 20 feet. When we returned to our mooring, we caught another catfish with hot dog. This one put up a fight.
