Fishing Buddy Gone - Ed Gerdemann

Bart is there a way to create a new category on WW? I was thinking Ed’s eulogy of this nice man would probably be worth saving in perpetuity and highlighting in its own category.

The category could be determined by you or the group, but my thought is a section highlighting the best fishing buddy stories.

And it’s set up so only an admin can post (or move) stories written and posted in other threads.

When enough people nominate that story for the “Best Fishing Buddy Story” category, the admin moves it or cuts/pastes it there.

I’d like to nominate Ed’s eulogy of his friend as the first, because I feel it was simple, touching, and truthful.

I've lost a few of my old fishing buddies over the years too, but the stories and memories of being with them at Lake Powell remain forever.

So true, and the memories are great.

Long ago we fished LP with an older Dutch veteran fellow and his wife. He actually spent 3 years in a Japanese POW camp.

Well, in the 70's a certain movie came out..... and he would say to his wife while we were trolling, in his deep Dutch accent: "Juuudy, I'm trolling for 'deep trout', and then laugh like crazy.

She would turn crimson and throw a freshly caught striper at him. He kept laughing.

No kidding, it's like it was yesterday........the memories are priceless.....and a bit ribald.....

Just saw this. I’ll chew on it a bit and look deeper into it next week when I get back home. Rainy day here in Bullfrog with more forecast for tomorrow - dashing my dreams of fishing the boils. Don’t mind the cooler weather though!
