Quick trip to mid lake this past weekend with my grandson and SIL, and my neighbor with his two sons. We saw slurps everywhere we went from bullfrog to the Rincon. Thanks to some of the information given here the week before we left we had some luck fishing the slurps. I had not had much luck with them in the past but we caught a couple dozen or more out of the slurps. The skirted Ned rig with a TRD caught several right off the bat, but then we caught them on top water and crank baits, and cast masters? We fished many that did not want to play but several slurps provided several fish out of them. I am not good at keeping track of numbers and we filleted them as we went so I didn’t get many pictures either but I have a couple. We caught about the same amount trolling in the canyons. Small mouth were available but we had a hard time finding any with any size to them. The larger SM have eluded me this year! We did catch several LM and returned them to the lake and one sun fish, no walleye or crappie. We probably caught 75 to 100 fish total. KY you are still my hero!
In the 107 degree heat we took a trip to the cathedral for some shade and a cool place for lunch. It is still an amazing place even at this water level.
I have to thank
@Dungee for the AC idea,
@greyhackle brought me a window unit the day before we left to try and it was a lifesaver when we used it! I didn’t want to keep people awake with the generator the first night but after being soaking wet all night we ran it the second night and I about froze! I shut it off at 3 AM and heard about it from my tent partners after it heated up again. It really does work!
I don’t say much about wake boats but I had my fill of rough water this weekend. When they go in circles for hours on end pulling floating couches it makes for a rough ride! They were having fun and they are entitled to that but it makes fishing a bit tougher when they are 50 yards from you in the canyons. We had a couple of wind events that took our neighbors camp down two days in a row and made a mess of their days both times. Tents and sleeping bags were scattered for 50 yards up and down the shore! Those kirkhams tents are awesome and it was standing when we got to camp both days! It was STRONG winds for about 20 minutes as a front came through, there were noodles and water toys scattered up and down iceberg. Sunday the wind made it too rough to find slurps in the main channel and the ones we found in the canyons were too spooky to get even with so we left early and headed home for Father’s Day celebrations. The shuttle made loading and unloading much easier and the driver was an awesome lady, I texted her and she came and picked up the drivers within minutes of getting the text! The exec ramp was not too bad and people were patient and kind this trip. Several boats were using the old road by the main ramp and I didn’t see any issues with them, they were in and out quick. It was a great trip as always with decent fishing, great company and the best scenery on earth! I can’t wait for these slurps to turn to boils. As a side note I did not see one big school of stripers under the boat this trip. Water temps were from 79 to 84. XD5’s were our ticket trolling in Shad Color. Ned rigs provided the best Sm fishing and I threw a lot of different stuff with little luck. GS caught several on craw XD5’s as well.

Boat traffic was heavy in bullfrog bay but did get less the further south we went. SJ is waiting for our next trip! Thanks for all the tips for slurps, they helped us catch fish. I wish I could return the favor.
