Bull Frog was dead, Halls Creek picked up two monster SM using watermelon green 4" curly tails rigged drop shot style. Fished 20' of water near rip rap.
Escalante we found a shallow reef (10') water that covered the entire canyon with deep water on both sides. The smallies and stripers had the shad confined and would come up from deep water on either side to attack shad. we stayed in a football sized area for 2 solid hours catching fish early afternoon, drop shoting from 20-10 feet and once a fish was on, throw behind the fighting fish to hook a larger SM. Close to 30 fish landed. solid pattern but could not find a similar area.
We did have stripers pushing fish against the canyon wall at dusk and dawn from Iceberg to Lake canyons. We would get 2 or 3 then have to move on. Every bay or canyon is full of walls of shad so don't be discouraged and stick to poppers or spooks night and morning with drop shoting once the sun is up......and dream of monster fish next year, It's going to be ridiculous.
