Keeper of San Juan Secrets
Two years ago when my sisters' outdrive broke we towed her to Wahweap because that's where our rental house boat was out of and our trucks were parked. After loading them on the trailer we spent the next hour or two trying to find them and get them back in my boat. At that time they had to park on top of the hill, walk down to the marina and none of us were familiar with the South end, it had changed in the 25 years since I had been there believe it or not. It was comical how we could not find each other. They kept sending her to different places to make arrangements for her repair and of course we didn't know where any of those places were. After we went through that I knew pretty much every aspect of the South end! But now I have forgotten it all. She had dropped her boat at the repair shop and I was tooling around the house boats looking for a dock, you would have thought it was my first time on Powell let alone me being a country bumpkin, it was a funny story! She would see me and head towards me and I would get nervous and move, finally she called me on the phone and said stop driving around and I will come to you which she did. I didn't want to get into trouble for being some where I should not be!@Dworwood, you crack me up! You have a million trips to the lake. You're one of Powell's foremost explorers. You know every canyon and now I read you're nervous about how to figure out where to park and whether you can walk on the docks?? (Just giving you a hard time!)
I don't normally mess around the marinas much so I don't know the do's and don'ts that would get you into trouble. Usually I get on the lake and head for camp and hope no one noticed me!! I am a marina rookie again! I am pretty self sufficient most of the time and try and stay out of your way! You could say I am way more comfortable by myself up a canyon by far than in a marina with all the people around. That is why I did not take @Maverick5207 up on the house boat parking thing on short notice, heck it might have taken me a day to find him. Hope you get a laugh at my expense but its true.
