Just missed you Kevin. I saw you packing up on Sunday. Me and my dad just got back yesterday. We camped in the back of red canyon. Didn’t have too much luck in red after we setup camp so we headed up to the horn at first light the next morning. Caught a couple and a crappie.View attachment 26333 We then decided to run down to ticaboo. We ran into the Dungee crew. Stopped and talked for a minute and marked a few schools and caught one, but I don’t like fishing on some other guys’ honey hole so we went down to ticaboo. Glad we did. Finally found a school that wanted to play and we caught 70+ striper from 12:30 to 3:00.View attachment 26336View attachment 26335View attachment 26334 Left the school biting, so hard to do but we ran out of room 😂 Cleaned fish until dark. Your seagull friends kept us company for the 3 hour cleaning session. I was worried I was gonna get hit with some seagull 💩View attachment 26337
Woke up the next morning tore down camp and repeated the action in ticaboo. It was a great trip.
Hey thanks for the heads up on the fish at ticaboo. Appreciate you guys coming over to help us out. Gotta keep those young kids entertained!

I never eat them whole, but I have a good friend that cooks them in the ground Hawaiian style in coconut milk and green bananas, and he said the people at the cook out, wanted the Striper over the whole pig, that I have heard how great it was allso. But I never got invited, guess they heard how I could eat🤣

I had fried Striper sandwich's a little bit ago, and they are far better then any you can buy. I told my wife, I could sale a 100 of those a day easy. Fried Striper on a toasted bunn, plenty of home made tarter sauce, dill pickles and lettuce 😋.
I think these fat Striper cleaned right are as good as it gets.
Do you eat the red meat to, or just pick the white out?
We cut out all the red meat. Takes a long time but sure worth it. I’ve fried striper and walleye together for some guys that swear walleye are the best eating fish and the walleye was the only fish leftover. 😂🤣

Did you boys put the hammer on ‘em’ down there?
We gave it the college try but we could only troll since I don’t have an electric trolling motor with spot lock. We picked up a handful but they didn’t want to play.

We ended up finding a school inside of Knowles that we were getting doubles on each pass yesterday. Didn’t go back north since we were camped near tapestry wall to try again. We just got back last night so haven’t had a chance to put a report together.

Thanks again!

I cut all red meat out to, but I was talking about when Dorado cooked them whole. My Samoan friend told me I was wasting meat, and I told him I got a 5 gallon bucket of it that he could have😁. He never took it, but I would give him 50 or more Striper, and he would eat them every day, and his wife told me not to give him any more 🤣.
Chovy were you getting them on chovy's? When are you going back, I know your thinking that way😁

Drifting and spooning or casting works great svivian, my spot lock is coal miner made, about 30+ lbs ☹
Were you in a big boat with a cab?

Yes I was and it catches wind pretty easy. Great for drifting along a shore flipping ned rigs or soft plastics against a bank but not so much for picky stripers. If we weren’t right on top of them they weren’t biting.

That was a sweet looking boat, even from a distance. I bet saturday it was catching a little.
