It was my middle son Waylon’s birthday the 28th and he wanted to go to lake Powell for his first time. We stayed in the hotel in bullfrog and had a kit fox beg for food in the parking lot both nights. Some of you may have seen him before.

We trolled around bullfrog Friday morning with no luck then ventured out to the island across from Moki canyon and tried to jig on a few schools still no luck. We took a lunch break and swim on shore in that area, found some petrified wood Waylon was excited about. After lunch we headed up Moki canyon and got some fish to bite trolling 2.5-3.5 mph 30-40 feet deep. The average size of the stripers was pretty small but the smaller ones had better meat than the longer ones when we filleted them.

My friend Seth Taft came down and helped us get into some fish Saturday morning we puttered around Stanton creek then went back into Moki canyon and had a pretty consistent trolling bite for smaller stripers until he had to leave at ten and called it a trip. I’ll post a picture of the lures that caught the fish.

The fishing was slower than some trips but tons of fun. Waylon had the time of his life won’t stop talking about it. Can’t wait to go back.
I've seen two of those kit foxes at Defiance. And on a somewhat related note, I just returned yesterday from my most recent trip where had a liver and white German shorthair appear in the parking lot at the end of the building. It was very thin but appeared friendly. However, when I reached for its pink collar, it bolted around the building and disappeared not to be seen again. :(
