Ed, My dad, may he RIP, used to fish a 4 or 5 inch yamamoto grub almost exclusively. He always fished it slow and all the way back to the boat. The opposite of how I fish. I cast to spots, if I don't get picked up, I retrieve and go again.
He matched me fish for fish. He had total confidence in the bait and had his presentation down.

Very true. Compared to most other lakes, Powell fish don't see near the fishing pressure.

Pointers are my favorite, all sizes. Threadfin Shad and Ghost are my favorite colors. They will catch every species in the lake. Lucky Craft also has a Staysee that is my go to for trolling stripers as it dives deeper (also cheaper than Pointers) but either way you cant beat Lucky Craft lures. I also have great success in winter/early spring throwing Lucky Craft LV 500 lipless cranks. Again same colors.
 
If I could only have one lure? Yamamoto single tail 5" grub in 194J on an 1/8th oz lead head.

But as Wayne once told me, "you have enough tackle to open up your own store". I'll unload the tackle box until I figure out what they are eating and that ranges from top water to hula grubs to ned rigs to senkos to drop shot to cranks. It all works, fish will let you know when and how.
