EPA good news

From the course of this thread it seems like it is January not July/August.

I think its awesome that regulations are changing so we can go back to the old style gas cans that work without the need for the numerous modifications people seem to be getting into a measuring contest over...

This is only 5 gallons but it's the safest can around. I have 4 on the boat after the usual red ones sprung a leak during the night. Scary stuff. These in the attachment are made in Utah and very thick plastic. Watch the videos. I think they are truly spill proof. I spent around $275.00 for them but sleep better at night.

I use these as well. Very robust cans that absolutely won't leak under any real world conditions likely to be encountered at LP!

Several years back there were so many lawsuits from drunk people and mental midgets using gas cans to start fires and killing or seriously injuring themselves to that there was not one manufacturer of gas containers left in the United States. They had all been sued out of existence. Manufactures were/are forced to idiot proof gas cans as to where you cannot "throw gas out of them onto a fire. Protecting people who's IQ is the same as or smaller than there shoe size from killing themselves and others. Therefore, making them very inconvenient to use. No vents, special buttons and knobs requiring two or three hands to simply get the gas to drizzle out of the spout. All of this to protect the public from themselves. Every time I am dealing with one of these politically correct cans and wishing I could buy a can that simply worked, I look at one of those 2 million dollar houseboats and wonder if it belongs to some lawyer who bought it with proceeds from suing some poor family who was trying to make something that worked for average people.
Sorry for getting on a rant. If you think I am full of *%*t on the gas can thing, research it yourself.

I've been using the Jiggler valve for like 25 years. Haven't spilled a drop since!
For refilling my non-boating toys and vehicles I use the VP style jugs. Upgrading the hoses to a braided style was a game changer with those. All the hoses that come with them, regardless of brand wear out quickly. Instead of the brand VP, I use the Tractor Supply jugs. They are less than HALF the cost, and are the exact same thing.

Personally, I wouldn’t have an issue if the damn things actually worked! Pretty sure I’ve spilled a lot more fuel using the newer cans. Plus the nozzles hardly ever work in a boat gas tank (same thing for my truck). The stupid release mechanisms are nearly impossible to use when you’re putting it into the side of a vehicle boat tank…
