Do you love lake Powell?

It’s fine, I actually agree that voting and this election or any election can potentially effect Powell to some degree. But among the many things that make this site invaluable is that we can usually stay strictly on lake Powell topics, such a great reprieve from the rest of the world, especially this year. But at the same time, have at it, I’m no moderator and I can simply not click or I watch this thread.
 
The founders realized that a pure democracy would not work, since the populace would eventually vote themselves all the largess out of the system. So the representative republic was chosen, and the modern politician was born. They danced with glee when they were chosen to control the money. So they vote themselves largess out of the system.😂

Forgot to finish. Since Lake Powell is govt owned, what would stop them from closing it to the public so they can have their own retreat. Outlandish but possible- they already did it last spring.

I consume a crapload of media and this is the craziest thing I've read all day next to that pizza shop in dc........There's this one site I go to ALL DAY LONG!! And yeah "think for yourself"......whatever dude, I tried that my first few trips and dang near got skunked! I'd hate to think where I'd be today without media. I don't want to get all preachy tinfoily hatty but if you don't see the truth in this MEDIA SITE then i can't help you.......:alien:

7 years ago THIS site...waynewords...played a major role in getting our National Parks and Monuments re-opened. A few of us will forever be grateful for the individuals on HERE who stepped up and helped make it happen!
I cried when the Statue of Liberty opened...if you don't want to read about politics that actually affect each of us, fine...scroll on.
 
Speaking of closures, aside from the shutdown 7 years ago (Federal Budget issue) and earlier this year (Covid), has Lake Powell ever been closed at any other time(s) since opening in the 60’s?

If so, when and why?

No others that I'm aware of. The 2013 closure was due to Mike Lee and Ted Cruz filibustering the senate over Obamacare.
