Creepy houseboat story

There is a lot of burros in Nesaki, and otters seem to be multiplying around the lake, and don't forget the mountain sheep. Several people have posted about the ringtails over the years and they always seem to be very clever in getting to food. One night camping near the entrance to Ribbon Canyon we'd BBQ'd shrimp for dinner, George put the skewers in the garbage and the garbage sack on shore til morning. We heard a noise and he shined the light and discovered kangaroo mice love that camping area and had found the bag, bit into it to get out the skewers and were fighting over them. They would stand up and literally box each other until one lost it's footing and rolled down the hill, then run back up and it would start all over again. I hate mice, but watching this was very entertaining. Never camped there again, one of the little suckerswas on the the boat, but George hadn't told me it was there - I didn't know until it ran across me in the night.... we went to Dangling Rope the next day to dump trash, buy ice and a mouse trap - caught the thing the next day.... the fish had a meal.

The Ringtail cats are very mischievous! We had one hanging around the houseboat a few years ago. Dragged an unopened box of twinkies under a couch and ate a few. Then a few night layer raided the speedboat we had tied to the anchor line, and calmly sat in the bow eating Ritz, while we shine a flashlight on him.

We've seen several horse and the burro around cha the last 2-3 Sept, and a few years ago we saw a horse at the apex of the Great Bend.

Otters have been spotte from just below Peek-a-boo arch, and all the way up to Neshki

I once had a Ringtail Cat INSIDE my tent while camped on Gunsite Butte years ago. He found a banana haha. The next night, we were enjoying the sunset sitting on the boat when I heard some crinkling sounds. I turned around, and that Ringtail was in the boat with us, with his head stuffed down into a bag of chips. Cute lil guys.....and pretty bold at times!

We had a family of ring tails come out on folks sleeping in front of the houseboat one year in cots, we woke to screaming and came out, there was a bolder wall in right there with eyes reflecting from any crevice they could fit in, those little cats are freaky freaky

We were refurbishing a houseboat on the south end and I noticed something moving above the ceiling fabric of the boat, sure enough it was a ringtail. Later one of our mechanics was working on the electrical panel and the ringtail stuck his head through rhe edge of ceiling fabric upside down right above the mechanic who was a jittery type. Hr screamed like a little girl and ran out of the boat. Funny stuff. They always looked like they should be in a jungle to me. They have got a creepy hiss also.
