Certification

We are out of the north end, but several trips last year, and one trip so far this year, and no one has said anything about the course.

FWIW, on our Labor Day 2020 trip we went through the exit inspection, and then went through the secondary check station set up at the fee both on the way out (they were checking to make sure everyone got sealed before leaving the lake), and dad, being dad, played 20 questions with the NPS agent. Even then, they didn't say anything about the certificate.

I am out of the north end as well and always end up getting my boat deconned at highline lake on the way into Colorado if I know my next trip is somewhere besides Powell. I am all for protecting our waters even if it means I have to pay a little for it but I want it to actually be enforced... and I want the guys running the deconn stations at powell, that these funds are suppose to be for, to care a bit more about it too.

Agree with that sentiment. The challenge (as a Colorado boater) is that this state doesn't care what any other state does in regard to ANS. I can get decontaminated when I leave Lake Powell (or Wyoming or Nebraska for that matter), and I am still required to go through the process in Colorado before I launch in Colorado.

So, in this case, you end up spending $ to Utah for a program that you really can't take advantage of. It would be nice if there was some sort of agreement between states that created a reciprocal program where one state honors what is done in another state. One fee for all states instead of paying a fee to Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska.......

But then how would they get to bleed you again.. That will never do. BTW, just downloaded my ais cert. for my dashboard. I have been asked to see it at Panguitch Lake in the past. It just streamlines things a bit. What the heck, it's free.

For Utah if you complete the course you get an annual certificate which means you are not required to display one of the little self decon certificates that they have at all lakes in Utah. Funny thing is a lot of times at the gate at Sand Hollow they don't even know there is such a thing as annual and they give you a new decon cert each time you enter. I just let them give it to me anyway so that I have a record of where and when I last launched. One thing for certain if your lakes don't have mussels you wanna do whatever is necessary to avoid getting them.
Also all the bass tournament organizations require you to have one in your boat and one in your tow vehicle.
With the water down this year all the rocks at Powell look like dead chia pets. Very sad.
