Here is a photo of the Castle Rock Cut from the Wahweap side taken today. It looked to me like it would take about 3 more feet of rising water to flood the Cut. Then it will take another 3 feet or more to make it deep enough for boats to take the shortcut. I was not able to walk up and take pictures of the work done this past two weeks due to time constraints.

Lake elevation is 3577 today. 3 feet added makes it 3580 which is just what is expected. Lake is still rising 3-4 inches per day. It takes 4 days to raise one foot. We will see where it stands on Memorial Day?

Thanks Wayne!

We visited the Cut from the Warm Creek Bay side last night (May 14) and took these pics. While we couldn’t ‘see’ the dozers and excavators from our end, we could definitely still hear them working late yesterday on the Wahweap side.

The water seen in some pics appears to be rain runoff from recent storms. It’s too far up into the Cut to be lake water, unless it’s perhaps lake ‘seepage’ from under the soil.

We totally agree with Wayne’s assessment...at least 3’ to flood and another 3’ minimum to pass by boat.

Memorial Day weekend COULD be a possibility.....Crossing Fingers........DBA4EE41-FD55-4E1B-B9ED-D60CA23893C5.jpeg81B126F9-EB01-42D9-9F5A-61BE6217EA30.jpeg2A4EA3CF-91F2-4CFB-AC4A-475D792DAD98.jpegA6388DBD-65E3-430B-BD4F-3174995EDE86.jpeg873D2C3F-4CE3-492A-B46C-C5680D898106.jpeg13DA6349-09E9-4222-8BAC-A4708EE60DB2.jpeg40387873-A54F-4E40-85CF-5915E48EDEA9.jpeg3C35FB8B-DBDD-4D4E-9CCA-F5CB69D1AAA0.jpegFE331C92-C22A-4536-BEED-9CB56C85D5A5.jpeg02588A43-168F-4528-8141-9D86BA701FA5.jpeg

Thanks for those pictures. They represent exactly what I wanted to do. I appreciate your efforts and for sharing them with us.

Was there yesterday may 14 and they were loading the dump trucks and tractor on the barge bringing them to state line ramp.
That must’ve been the noise we heard just out of view on the Wahweap side yesterday afternoon.

Sounded like a lot of the beeping noise big equipment makes when in Reverse, probably backing up onto the barge.

Game on...fill-er up (LP that is...)

Thanks for posting these!

That last photo is good to put a photo of into the back of my head - as the water in the cut is usually very muddy on each end, its difficult to see deep into the water. That last photo shows that at a certain water level, one may see the rocks on the edge of the channel, but next to the rocks the taper is very slow for what looks like 10 feet before dropping steeply.

My point is, I would want to make sure I don't drive too close to the South side on the Warm Creek end as, at a certain water level, navigating too close to the rocks could put an outdrive/prop into VERY shallow water.
