Buying a houseboat and selling shared ownership!

Hello Luke,
Do you have any interest in doing a boat at the Wahweep Marina slips? I have a 2000 Stardust 15x55 that was completely remodeled on the inside a couple of years ago. We have decided to sell and get a larger boat as we have lots of grand kids and keep getting more and it gets a little crowded :) If interested I can send you more info and pics.
 
A couple of suggestions of buying into a “good group”. I agree with that. It I know one of the challenges is how to determine if it is a good group or not. I’m pretty sure that every seller, and every person who “manages” a boat will tell you “we are a great ownership group”.......
 
I don’t have much input here because we don’t own our own boat, we are just part of an LLC share out of Wahweap. However, I can tell you that houseboat shares must be HOT right now because there are hardly any on KSL compared to when we were looking to buy! We are thinking of selling our share and getting into a better-managed boat but really there is just not much out there right now.
 
I've been on 3 houseboats that had owner shared/participating management and held all the positions from President, Treasurer, Maintenance Manager, etc, etc. It can go smoothly then turn into a can of worms in no time. One or two poor partners and it''s a mess legally and financially. We have been with Laketime (in Page) the last two houseboats. It is BY FAR the best deal financially and quality of equipment. Laketime has a great system for maintaining the boats. Their launch/retrieve system avoids all the hassle/expense of keeping a boat on the docks and dealing with Aramark. I'm there to have fun, fish and enjoy family...not fix the boat, hassle with the fuel/pumpout docks plus the politics of group ownership. It's a LOT easier to go to the lake now and just write a check. They have several sizes of boats with various owner packages and ownership group sizes. Chuck

I have been with Laketime since 2001 and am very satisfied.
