Just docked at Bullfrog and the fish were biting very well at Good Hope and 3 Miles above good hope. We used strictly spinner baits in bright colors and chartreuse willow blades worked extremely well. Also chatter baits did good. My buddy used some 1/4 oz road runners in orange and red head and did great on the crappie up in red where it was the color of chocolate milk. Actually the more dirty the water was we hammered the fish. A slow retriever was the key. Water temperature 62 ° . We fished down river for 2 days around Escalante and it was slow and headed back up river to the dirty water. The fish are definitely biting better in the super dirty water. Use bright colors and a very slow retrieve . Even with rattle traps. Anything that makes noise and a flash is the secret with a slow retrieve up river. We let everything go and will send pictures when we get to good internet connection. Tight lines every one. Head to the dirty water.
At Bartlett yesterday with about 6in of visibility I pulled 15 lmb using a chartreuce pepper Yamamoto 4in grub with an orange 1/4oz jighead. Orange is my go to for dirty water.Screenshot_20230427-162608_GoPro Quik.jpg

I also like to attach a spinner when it is this dirty but lost my last one last Friday. Thanks to the mailman and I'm back in business. 20230427_164418.jpg

Yeah, I have also done really well in muddy water. I think the key for you guys was that it was warmer. The water was 53 degrees when we went up north, after a big wind blew through. I tried road runners, rattle traps lots of loud baits and it was dead. It does take some confidence to fish that dirty water, but once you get a few you keep at it!
I like the word "confidence". I seem to lack that in really muddy water. In my head there is a difference in muddy water; murky water; and stained water. I have confidence fishing in murky water and stained water, but maybe a better word for me in muddy water would be "faith". I need more faith when fishing in muddy water - I generally shy away from it. We'll be heading back to the frog in a few days and I am really debating whether to go north, which I would like to do - for the better walleye opportunities - or south, which I have more confidence in catching fish. I'll keep an eye out for fishing strategies and thoughts in the next few days. Thanks everyone for pitchin' in your thoughts.

Dorado ,good to meet you and your wife as well, good looking boat load of Germans also , shorthair, musterlander and Dratther, that is a fine-looking crew! Thanks to Dallas Massie for tip Tuesday about the pulling cranks bite, even that was slow but managed to get a few. There Was a good showing of WW eye hunters out, Coho, Catchanbuzz , Dorado, Dallas Massie, Wet1 and more I'm sure.....as Dorado stated the weather man sure did not help us out, Sunday rain and wind was now where in the forecast, and the 15mph wind for Tuesday was all of 20+ with gust, I guess that's spring fishing!

Meatwagon, did you catch a 15lb pound bass or do you mean 15 pounds of bass? A 15lb pound bass would be a record (I think) for LP, a PB for me and 95% of all who fish. Either combination is still a big harvest.

Love LP
