Fished bait for stripers 5-4 to 5-8 with no luck at good spots we have been using for 12 years. Hope it was only due to spawn. Water temps hover around 65. Mussels that were not readily apparent last fall have exploded to cover all the walls and beaches and have greatly clarified the water. I wonder if the mussels have consumed most of the minute food needed by by baby fish? Also, most boats were headed up to New Hope Bay amplified by many fast boats participating in the bass tournament. Because of the lack of access at Hite, is there any possibility of easing fishing access into NHB such as expanding Farleys which appears to be the easiest access point?

Two years ago a park ranger checking permits at Farley Campground(doesn't happen often), told us there was some money available to improve the road into Farley Canyon. That apparently isn't going to happen. they may have been referring to the road from the highway to the bathrooms, which has been maintained, but not improved.
