Boat towing with an extended hitch

The weak link in this scenario isn’t likely the extended bar. From what I’ve read, it will be the hitch itself. The extended bars that I have seen say that it reduces the hitch capacity by 1/3.
true, my gmc 2500 factory hitch developed cracks . good thing I'm kind of anal about checking things out and spotted it. reading online the gmc factory hitch are a known weak link.
 
LOTS of good info to digest as we make our decisions. It sounds like the super truss is the way to go with the extension.
Also, good advice on determining tongue weight. BarzArz, Hope your doing well and look forward to seeing at the lake this fall. Probably bittersweet on your 97 shortbox. Did you get the 6.7? I am not allowed to sell mine, my youngest daughter grew up camping in that truck and called “dibs”.
