I bet it will be a pay to park, camp kind of thing. Lots of people camping there that they aren't collecting fees from.

Maybe, although we talk about how the restrooms are complete trash ALL the time and those don’t get attention.
Ha! If they want to collect fees start at the gates. I rarely encounter anyone at the gate. Have not been checked at gate or registered my boat at Powell for at least 5 years. If someone was there I would have happily paid or shown my pass. Don’t worry about fees, it is not about money. $500 entry fee would not cover the cost for the minimal traffic. Never apply logic or reason when analyzing a government program! I would say business as usual and keep some bolt cutters handy just in case you need to get to the lake to survive. Would not want anyone to dehydrate or starve in the middle of nowhere.

Sounds like a SUWA lawsuit forced the NPS’ hand in the matter for all these shoreline roads. Now maybe SUWA will be satisfied with a token action by the NPS that they can fundraise off of and after a year or two this will all be forgotten.
If I had a bunch of money, I'd start a lawsuit of my own. They've basically closed all access north of Bullfrog.
The gates frequently use the “honor” system. Personally I like that idea better than locked/chained access that would truly restrict the hours of access. Image how great life could be if we could use the “honor system” more often instead of less. I happily pay every time and don’t mind paying a few $$ for the enjoyment I get from time on the lake. I’ve made worse investments.

I totally agree! I have had several instances where I tried to buy the permit when entering at Bullfrog, and it was unmanned and the machine wouldn’t work.

Seems to me that if they claim that access road, and start charging to use it, then its on them to maintain. I cant see that happening. The distance and expense involved would be very prohibitive. The "road" thats on the park now now only meets the definition by the smallest of margins.
