I’d say a better option would be to camp at lake level and park your vehicle at 3610’, preferably not visible from the water. Rangers shows up, say you got dropped off by a houseboat!

So now that’s another question! Would it not be legal to park a house boat on the shore there either??

well, since it’s a road closure map, I wouldn’t think it has anything to do with camping
My guess is that the main purpose at Blue Notch is to keep people from getting stuck trying to drive to lake! When they do, they can say “we told you that road was closed”!

No one is going to get pursued on their ATV. But if you have a camp set up in the illegal area with a truck and boat parked next to it you might get a ticket. Or maybe just a warning. We will probably find out shortly.

Unless there is a barrier and a "Road Closed" sign in your way, there is really no definition whether you can go there or not.

It's public lands, and unless there is a physical barrier preventing you from travelling that road, you are free to access it at your own risk. If you get pulled over, ask them where is says you can enter. If it's not posted or barricaded, you have legal access to YOUR land. Doesn't matter what the internet says.

Hopefully we will get some boots on the ground here with first hand knowledge. I can say there was nothing posted in February there or at Farleys. No signs, no markers, nothing. Everyone including me is hoping this is unenforced garbage that is rapidly forgotten. Maybe it is, maybe not. I personally have been busted twice by NPS for very similar violations. Useless rules intended to mitigate a tiny chance of danger. It wasn’t at Powell and I’ve never even met a Powell Ranger doing enforcement. But other people definitely have.
