That hill I am calling is Pucker go to the left and your in Red Canyon . Stay on solid ground . Launch is a 30ft drop ,and is a point where Last Wild Human was camped. The Blue Notch side is where trucks are getting stuck , but you can get stuck at allot of places. Stay on the upper side the lake shore on solid ground.Walk it before you drive.

That would be great for anyone who’s never been there and is thinking about going. What one person thinks is
‘not too bad” another might see it as falling off the end of the world.
this way each can make up their own mind
 
JIm has a 12ft Mirrocraft aluminum boat with a 5hp motor ,the other guys had a 14ft mirrocraft . Jim uses a come a long and pipe insulation to bring his out empty , took about 30 minutes. the other guys draged it out with there truck. I had a 12ft kayak.. in the pictures your looking straight down where we launched. Preston you should use 4ft pieces of 3" pipe with a winch . We where thinking on how you are going to launch your boat . You for sure have to Hand Launch your boat. Jim was there for 14 days ,and this is the only place where he seen he could launch his boat. He is back home so I going to let him talk.

Would definitely like to see the entire drive, since I dont have a boat and wanted to drive a subaru in to shore fish.. But after seeing some of the rescue pics, might not be a wise idea. Maybe you could do a part 1-2-3 if you cant do all at once? (subscribed)
 
Well crap.....
I woke up this morning and my desktop computer is DEAD!!!!. It has all the footage of this trip stuck in its hard drive. I think it might just be the power supply.

It is a 10+ year old computer so it's probably time for a new one.....

Once I recover the goods, I'll be back and going again. And I will be doing a time lapse video of the drive out of that area, if I can recover the footage.....
 
Dal, have sat there on that ridge, picture #5, waiting and watching for the rest of the crew to show up on the road in. Lots of big petrified log chunks there. several years ago we were camped under the big ledge rock with Dworwood and his crew in the very back of the cove. While under the ledge eating lunch, a kayak fisherman paddled in to fish. He sat his rod on top, turned for something behind him, and the rod went over the side! There was kind of a blue haze in the air as he paddled back out. Just more info for folks and timing. Several times we have planned trips to blue notch/red canyon, me putting in at bullfrog and boating up and they rest of the crew driving in with all the supplies. We would split up at the junction of 95 and 276 there in north wash. Every time I was able to put in at bullfrog, motor up to our camp in Red canyon, and still have to wait on that ridge, hoping they didn’t have trouble coming in.
 
well i made it home ,what a good time, regular spring weather, windy, cool , cloudy, warm at times colder than he-- water temps 45 to 50 depends on where you were in the muddy water in the backs of the canyons . I caught mostly stripers in 2 feet of water or less muddy water , there is live water in red but not many others ,a small chatter bait 1/8 oz silver was the best but a walleye assassin on 1/4 oz head was killer any couler with chartuse tail . trolling was slow but i caught quite a few on flickers 14 feet deep ,the fishing was better the first 5 days then slowed as it got colder and windier we had some 30 degree mornings ice in the frying pan ,.. it was great I had 10 days all by my self, saw 1 boat but not close enough to see or talk then here comes Friday , Dallas showed up fri morning then two other gents that afternoon fishen had slowed by then but if you fished hard you caught fish , fir nite we saw a truck pull down to almost were we were camped then they turned north headed around to the north side of the cut we were on , well i should have flagged them down i knew it was bad but we watched them get out and scout ahead they were stuck 50 feet from where they parked while scouting, life's a bitch then you die, thanks to Dave at rabbit brush everyone was back on the road it an hour awesome what a guy . were are lucky to have him to rescue us from our troubles . launching this is going to be an issue hand launch only all of the shore line in red is cliffing out the place i launched was only place where there was a break in the cliff face even then it was tough. bigger the boat bigger the problem i use 4 inch pool noodles and 4 foot pvc pipe and a hand cranked cable winch its only 20 foot cable and some stout rope . I think I'm buying a small winch from harbor freight , I'm old it will be easier on my shoulders . i had a great time , i caught hundreds of fish , almost every kind no walleye, weird . the stripers are almost all skinny most fed the ravens and coyotes the crappie awesome 2 lbs + bass are still cold but catchable , its only going to get better and warmer still the most beautiful place on earth . to all who commented on this thread thank you for your faith in the old last wild human . That is looking down from the top of the blue notch down to the lake about 10 miles away right at Castle Butte, The 4th picture from the last Is Jacob's Chair looking the other direction from the same spot , The other picture from the same spot I think is Bears Ear with a house in it to the right of center,
