Do they ever take a cat, or grader, to work that trail? Or just let it get more torn up?

San Juan county does grate it annually. But to what extent, I am not sure.

They do grade it once in a while, its a pretty decent road except for a few minor spots

They blade it twice a year. One good rain undoes all that. My son has taken a 24' motor home in there pulling and launching a 17 foot tracker each spring for the last two years.

It was bladed about 3 weeks ago. They typically blade to high water mark. The last mile or so is primitive road, but usually traveled enough to have a good track. There is the heart attack hill they talk about, but it is doable.

Had a customer come in and he took his truck, loaded with a cab over camper, and a boat in tow down to Blue Notch.

The end result was his boat AND camper getting damaged when they came in contact with each other thru a steep incline.

Do you mean that the sharp incline was so sudden that the nose of the boat actually hit the back door of the camper? Was the tongue of his trailer overly short?

There is a wash that has a pretty steep exit in there , I found what was left of a transom saver there one trip

I know someone that was in there yesterday (Thursday 2-4-21) and they did not say there was any problem. Maybe I can find out more about the road? Not sure what they were driving, but said they just fished off the shore and caught a couple of stripers, and one large carp.

That is exactly what happened and yes, it was a very short tongue on the trailer.

I think the Glen Canyon national recreation area rules stipulate no off-road vehicle’s except at lone rock beach. That seems kind of crazy but I’m pretty sure that’s the way the rule is written. I know people that do what you’re suggesting but it’s a “buyer beware” situation

We took a Full size Toyota truck pulling a 16ft boat on a single axle 3 or 4 years ago & had to be careful of the trailer tongue digging in the road
