I drove Blue Notch last week. I'd never been there, so I thought I'd possibly camp out near the water. The road is open and cruel. My gosh, bounce up, bounce down, 4-wheel up grades, go slow! Don't try it with 2-wheel-drive. I got to the end and I was still a long way from the lake, and I couldn't find a road to take me closer, so I considered camping there for the night; I considered for about a half second, shook my head NO, and decided I would drive to the campground at Bullfrog which was almost empty.

I didn't see another sign of life anywhere on the road. Driving out, exploring possibilities, and driving back, I was the only one in that remote part of the world. A couple days later I was on the Trash Tracker cleaning the shore of our beautiful lake.

Another thing. I can't believe that a Google truck filmed a street view all the way to the end of Blue Notch Road! I wonder if the rogue driver kept his job!

You did not come across a road closed sign , google map . There where 3 signs in March. Hopefully they are gone .

good work saving that hull,,,,,but i think you would have been better off finding a 14' tinny? that fiberglass hull is going to be heavy, but you guys know blue notch well and used to launch that old tri hull down there,,, everyone needs a BN bomber!

Thanks Bobco,

You’re probably right for BN itself, but more than anything I just wanted a project and second boat. Although probably not hand launchable in the sense it will be a lot more manageable to launch there if necessary. I also just have more experience and more confidence in working with fiberglass so that route made more sense to me overall.

Luckily I have had a couple other boats to dink around with and hone some skills first. No one will confuse this boat with a Hells Bay but it’s coming out great and I’m actually enjoying it.

Dealership didn’t get back to me after saying Crestliner was requesting additional photos. Couldn’t wait longer so we just had a friend with a welding business do it. After multiple trips it has performed flawlessly. Only one side of the keel had the weld failed. It was a quick 30 minute process, we also got some free elk, moose and bison meat out of it so double win.

For this shortcoming they have helped me 10x/1. They have been great and I would still recommend their service. I’m probably a little naive but I don’t put this situation entirely on them. My situation is also a little unique as they’re a Crestliner dealer but we didn’t purchase through them. I won’t badmouth them… yet. :)

@upthecreek I cannot say for sure they ticketed them, my friend from here said there were several rangers, the only other boats he saw up there that were harassing the people on shore. He thought they were getting tickets for driving in. I do not know for sure if they got tickets, he said he thought they were. Sorry for what could be misinformation. I do know they made contact with those on shore, maybe warnings?
