Big Storm at Bullfrog/Halls

Any first hand info on the storm at the north end yesterday? I’m seeing reports of at least 3 boats going down on the buoy field and one in the slips?

Second-hand info … wind gusts to 65 and waves 5-6 feet .. scary times for sure

Not to discount anyone's suffering.....my Dad was a claims rep......(so us kids learned early).....Mother Nature ALWAYS wins.....let's hope all were safe......... and insured properly.....

Yikes! I think that white boat in the top photo might be "Imaginary Day" on N Dock. The purple one a few slips further along looks like it's listing with its failed rain gutter dumping water right into the upper deck.

This is duplicate information but the fuel dock is down and water to Halls slips is off. Halls store is running but they are out of ice

From FB there is a report that the pump out is down and the pump out boat was damaged in the storm

I think that is “just ducky” or something similar. A report I saw is that the engine compartments filled with water but there are supplemental pumps in it now.

The lack of break waters and no power to charge batteries so onboard bilge pumps work is certainly contributing factors.

I’ve been through this before with a submerged houseboat. They are in for a battle with insurance and I’d be willing to guess few boats are insured for replacement cost. Nightmare incoming.

Agreed. And that part of the channel is famous for taking down houseboats. The wind fetch is so long across Bullfrog Bay that by the time the waves reach Halls they are truly massive.

Yes and even a north wind all the way from the corner north of Moqui will have a real head of steam. I guess it’s an east wind looking at the map. Feels like north in real life

I used to be on a buoy in the Bullfrog north west field many years ago when Bullfrog bay extended for miles .. when storms would come from the west we would have 3’ to 5’ rollers hitting the bow ..coming over the bow of our 42’ Kayot .. I can only imagine the wave size generated from Bullforg to Halls ..

blowing hard hear in Grand Junction this evening..I hope tonight is not anything like last night for all my houseboat friends ! Sit tight and ride it out ..

First thought is that this really sucks for lots of boat owners and groups. I hate to say it but my second thought comes up really quickly... does this mean there will be a buoy or slip available to those loyal houseboat owner groups that lost Bouy privileges March 1st?? Not that it really matters, we can't launch a houseboat on the North End anyhow but still, maybe there's a chance if they scratch that new primitive ramp in below the main ramp and there's a few balls out there without boats.

Sounds like a sh!t show on the North End right now as they try to put all the pieces together and then Mother Nature throwing curve balls. Maybe it was okay after all to miss out on this season....
