Lake Powell fishing can be tough this time of year; last weekend was no exception. The weather Friday was awful, and Saturday wasn’t much better. We located shad and stripers in most of the canyons we visited. Mostly found them suspended at 50 to 100 feet, in 150 feet of water. We drop in everything we had, but no takers. We never caught a single striper the entire trip. Sunday weather was much better. The lake was glass most of the day; the water temperature was around 56 degrees. We fished mostly for LM and SM with little success, only catching 30 or so. The best baits to use was a Ned rig with a 2.75” (yoga pants) TRD, and a 5“ Neko rig (black with blue flake) with a 1/16 ounce nail weight. The fish were definitely holding deeper 20 to 30 feet and mostly on rocky points. A few was caught in shallow water as well.
