I'm sure there are other reason's, why they might not put them in Powell, but they are mussel eater's, and would probably do well in there. I know they like the gravel bottom to spawn. They do get bigger then Blue gill, and they are good eating.
 
I'm skeptical that Shellcrackers would make a significant impact on mussel numbers but I would enjoy catching and eating them if they were introduced. The young ones are just more forage for the stripers which is a good thing!
 
Lake Hav- can you catch them and how do they "eat" Never caught them but i have a friend in Lk Hav with a boat
I have never fished for them but in 2011 a record was caught that was 5 lb. 8 oz. in Havasu. I have been hearing of quite few red ears being caught mainly by accident.
