I actually saw the Drilling set up between 4 mile and 2 mile canyons. It was quite a site. They had a barge with a small drill rig on it, with 2 large houseboats a couple other barges and 5 or so smaller support boats all attached together with some type of tug boat to push it all. They were pulling core samples of the sediment that had been deposited in the original river channel. I talked to one of the geologists and they were looking for heavy metals and water quality mainly, and many others things. The most interesting thing to me was that they said the sediment at the spot between 2 and 4 mile was 30 meters thick? From all the radio chatter on Saturday, I am guessing their set up did not like the 40 MPH winds. Could someone please post the results when they are available.
