To be clear, the $50/month is a very limited plan. $165/month for the roam plan that is unlimited.

Well worth the cost in my opinion.

I’d also say that getting the mini is a better idea than the full size. There are a few tradeoffs, but the portability of the mini is its biggest advantage.

If one watches, Starlink often puts significant discounts on the equipment. When I bought ours (standard, before mini came out) I think I paid less than $200 for the equipment.

If one buys equipment second hand, make sure the prior owner has set it up to transfer service.
 
I mainly use starlink for communication. Phone calls and text, weather reports from multiple sources, sharing pics with friends and family including wayneswords. I prefer to disconnect as much as possible when on LP.
The only form of entertainment tech on our first houseboat was an 8track player.😄

We've liked having it I was a little disappointed when they started the $5.00 a month payment but what I've heard it's a enough service might not have to pay the $50.00 month so we'll see in the spring? I've even throw it in the sxs when we go. I don't stay up on all this tech. so there might be something better but we've been pretty happy with it.
