Ya think ? Walleye & perch fishing used to be awesome there. Perch got consumed by a bucket transplant of Pike. Got one walleye & a couple of brooder trout from up the road, that they dump in from time to time.
Maybe Wayne can chime in on this one.
I’ve heard for years that the walleye in Powell made it down the spillway. Confirmed, I’ve caught them below the dam. Then migrated down the Colorado to Powell.

Dungee, I have experienced the same fun restoring boat trailers, the finished project is where the fun begins. I purchased a trailer that was in a farmer's field in Buena Vista and was able to tow it home. Here's the best part of that deal. I got to Buena Vista, inspected the trailer that was parked in a small lot, hooked it up and went homme. Mailed payment the next day. Crazy that there are still trusting people out there.

Do you have a specific paint selected? I went with Sherwin Williams special (automotive) paint that delivered great results even after several years.
Beautiful finish. easy to clean and it has a hard finish. I only did surface sanding with different grids until I got a very smooth finish. Started with 2 coats of primer then spray painted with 2 finish coats.

I decided to go with 15" wheels to eliminate any trailer sway, so glad I did.

I was thinking of just going with some rust oleum, do a few coats of self etching primer and then a black paint. Nothing too fancy, but I’m open to any suggestions, very novice at all this.

So far only progress pics I have are from grinding and demo.

I have been filming the whole trailer process along with the boat restoration as well, so I’ll have a full series on the project when complete. I’ve done lots of demo on the boat, redone the floor and put in a new transom. Had to take it off the trailer to finish the trailer and do the bottom of the boat before moving any further. It’s been fun.

Yup, trailer is getting a compete overhaul. New leaf springs, hangers, axle, hubs, new 13” wheels, fenders, bunks, bunk mounts, tie downs, winch, coupler, lights, rollers, and of course a complete new paint job done right. Only thing I think I’m keeping is the boat rest post, with a new winch of course.

I need this boat to be completely blue notch ready, and also a very decent second boat for any access or times needed that the Crestliner can’t get to.

One thing I’m debating on is whether or not to put some of those adjustable wheels on the transom of the boat so I can put those down and hand launch it with those if needed?

how heavy is your boat loaded ,is the motor riding on the boat, how heavy empty , we are going to have to get creative at launching at red canyon, in December it was cliffing out headed in to the channel of red canyon and there was only 25 feet of water to the channel bottom and even the layers of sandstone close to the water were like mush i could get within 20 feet with the truck parked on solid rock but its gone down alot who knows now .

That looks like some good old US steel.If you have any bad welds bring it down no charge.

how heavy is your boat loaded ,is the motor riding on the boat, how heavy empty , we are going to have to get creative at launching at red canyon, in December it was cliffing out headed in to the channel of red canyon and there was only 25 feet of water to the channel bottom and even the layers of sandstone close to the water were like mush i could get within 20 feet with the truck parked on solid rock but its gone down alot who knows now .

Not 100% sure but it will be on the lighter end, not as light as a Jon boat but planning on having it be manageable for hand launching if needed. It will have a 12v trolling motor on the bow, a 20hp Honda on the back and probably just a removable six gallon tank. All removable if/when needed.

My beach bomber is ready, ended up painting the entire thing, looks nice now, btw that green was supposed to be khaki tan, total boat aluminum paint at $45 a quart,not recommended lol. Boat only weighs in at 130 lb for 14 foot boat, motor is another 70 lbs, plan is I don't need no stinking trailer, throw it in back of pickup and go. I do like the idea of wheels like Preston is looking at, should be able to weld something up for that!
