those of us that use anchovies always have a problem with them getting soft and stinky here's a tip, but first a story many years ago we went to Lake Texoma and caught a ton of stripers (used a guide) now how to get them home 3 day drive back to Denver we took a large cooler, started with a layer of newspaper on the bottom, then wrapped each frozen filet in newspaper, made one layer in the cooler, then another layer of newspaper, then a layer of filets (wrapped in newspaper), did this until the cooler was full, then one more layer of newspaper, then closed the cooler and taped it shut, we got back to Denver three days later and all filets were still frozen. used no ice!
now here is my tip, go to a garage sale and buy a cheap small flip top cooler put the anchovies wrapped in newspaper in the cooler and then put that cooler into your big cooler in the boat. when you head home the left over anchovies and probably soft and stinky, so throw the cooler in the trash problem solved never, never put the anchovies in the freezer in your camper or motorhome good fishing Dennis in Jucntion

Another solution is to stop using anchovy, and start using striper for both bait and chum. Plastic coffee containers work well. Filet, then cut into strips and chunks. One piece of striper on your hook can last a whole day.
