Almost run over by wake board boat

I seem to have bad luck with folks being a bit too close for my liking, and then the surfer wrecking. And then they turn to pick him up, and he wrecks again....over and over and over again. I understand that happens but I’ve never had anyone yell “sorry about this!”. I just sit there and turn more and more red with each passing minute. I am glad we’ve got a few pleasure boater folks around who understand how to be courteous!
I will add this too for anyone who might be renting a houseboat (or any other boat for that matter. The safety of the reservoir lies in the middle! I know plenty of people have said to cruise the main channel but I’m not sure if everyone knows what that means. I think people get a false sense of security by being close to shore as last time I was there I saw at least two houseboats cruising the lake way too far “in”.

I thought the flares were only required on coastal water, not inland bodies of water?
Wisconsin Boating Laws says Visual Distress Signals must be on board for federally controlled waters. I'm not sure what Utah says, but I think Lake Powell is part of the National Park System, and I believe would fall under the federal guidelines requiring visual distress signals.

All coastal and open bodies of water. Is a lake considered an open body of water? They might be referring to the Great Lakes. Boats under 16' only need them if operating at night.

I always fish the winter months at Powell. I have never seen a boil or a slurp at Powell.
That's unfortunate! It is really exciting. We had a boil wake us up one morning last year. Our houseboat was surrounded! It was amazing to see the shad run in to the shallow water and have innumerable large stripers coming up to shore to try and get them.

That looks like it would be a blast, until it is time to start cleaning. Thank you for the video.

Holy crap that is awesome!!! Thanks for sharing the video! I gotta know, what did you guys think was going on?! Haha! My nervous brain would be thinking the cliff is coming down or something! I can only imagine being woke up by that sound!
I had heard them up coming down the canyon earlier, so I knew what it was. When the hit next to the houseboat, my brother in law jumped up thinking the canyon was coming down on us just like you thought! It was not the worst rude awakening I have had on the lake. I would much rather hear a boil than a) late night fireworks, b) ring tailed cats climbing aboard and running through the Bimini of the boat, c) lightening, d) my sister in law telling me her PWC is nowhere to be seen, or e) crows. All of these have happened, so wake me to a boil any day of the week! 😂
