5 Ways The Government Keeps Native Americans In Poverty

Probably a Russian "Bot", sowing discontent amongst the ranks to get Trump elected in 2020. Bye, Bob.

PS: Panties sufficiently unbunched, ready for normal discourse.

I worked with an older Navajo guy on a construction crew for a year(I was 23, he was in his 40's). He was a great guy, but chose to live on the Rez. He was normally reliable, but every few weeks he wouldn't show up for 3-5 days, and then have a different excuse every time. As a result the boss tried to make me crew foreman, which hurt his feelings and caught me in the middle. There are a couple of groups in the US that have developed a "victimhood" mentality, and until they get beyond this, there will be limited success for both groups. While it's true that history has not been kind to them, that is "history", and we all need to move forward to "Make America Great Again" together.

First off, I took that as a very sarcastic remark. Second, I have not stated anywhere in this post what my interests are with regard to Lake Powell. And for the record, my interest here DOES include the issues directly associated with Lake Powell.

There was nothing in the OP's post with a direct link to Lake Powell. The article did specifically mention a reservation in Montana, but nothing about any specific reservations in Utah/Arizona. And while the deplorable actions of the Bureau of Indian Affairs should be of concern to all of us, I found little, if any, application specific to Lake Powell in the article - and I still don't since Lake Powell does not reside within any Indian reservation in whole or in part. I thought I was being civil in my reply to Waterbaby and indicated I meant no disrespect to him or anybody else on this forum. It would seem I missed the mark on that with you.

Since I do visit Lake Powell a couple of times each year, I AM interested in the issues that directly impact the facility. Therefore, I will continue to read the 'Lake Powell Issues' forum and comment when I see fit to do so. And I'll do so with civility and respect in most cases.
dubob, No offense was meant. I have been hanging around this board, in all its versions, for over 20 years, and the issues have covered everything from Powell to whatever and wherever. The issues forum has just been a place to discuss everything and anything on anyone's mind at any time. As Gem said in an early post to this thread, campfire talk.

The Navajo Nation is very relevant to this board - as anyone who has visited Page and Lake Powell is well aware. Even certain areas around the lake require a permit from the Nation to access... Rainbow Bridge is part of Lake Powell and a sacred site to the Navajo. Page exists thanks to the Navajo Nation making trades with the Federal Government. After the major slide on the main highway to Lake Powell a few years back, access to the lake and Page was due to the Navajo Tribe allowing the government to pave a former dirt road from The Gap to Page. Many do not want to see it, but Powell and the Navajo co-exist - thus they are related issues. I personally have a great deal of empathy for the Navajo and all the native tribes in general. Oh and did I mention, many of the children on the Reservation are bussed into Page for school every day.

Thank you young lady for that well described and CIVIL answer to my original question. Since I've only been a member here for about a year, I didn't really see the relevance of your original post. As other's have indicated (some civil, some not so civil), this type of discourse on this forum has been long standing. I didn't know that and got chastised for daring to even ask for clarification. Your response is very much appreciated. Thank you again for taking the time to enlighten me.
