There we were, 2 of just 14 fortunate enough to participate in Bob Reed’s very
generous offering for a day on Powell, on fantastic boats, and a superb total grouping
of folks.
Many takeaways:
-outstanding crews helping provide a very safe & extremely comfortable full day on the water.
-creature comforts galore. after an entire day, upon return we did not feel the least bit “beat up”,
the axopars are velvet smooth. actual bathrooms, an absolute +++ for the ladies, hot coffee brewed/cup,
obvious temperature controlled cabin for the early morning chill, fresh made ice cream on the return from
Ms.Mary (Bob’s wife), and we were all escorted by none other than Mr.Wayne Gustaveson.
uplakeadventures is the best show in town & on Powell!
We started at 0700 at stateline, got a quick roll call and briefing by Bob, & the flotilla launched. Quickly at 47mph,
we were soon into Last Chance and dropping spoons between 70-95 ft. First hook up of the morn was a walleye,
& the only one for the day. Typical surface temps were 48-52 deg from what we saw. The morn was a bit slow as
expected though large schools were found often. But stripers were caught intermittently and put in the “fish tank”
live well.
Lunchtime had the 3 axopars tethered together where everyone could converse, and of course all fishers engaged
in typical bravado harassment of those on other boats, typical “guy behavior” tossing gentlemenly barbs at each other.
In the later part of the afternoon, a blastoff to Rock Creek Cyn, and very quickly the typical striper frenzy that everyone
loves to enjoy. Live wells & ice chests loaded up quickly. Was an all striper day, except for the solo walleye. Another
tethering & striper fillets were quickly ziplocked & back to stateline.
In the photos, our memories of the great people on the 3 great axopar’s, that enjoyed great camaraderie.
Many typical Powell pics, plus dead fish, etc., & hopefully they won’t end up sideways. Will make small groupings.
Thanks for all that participated.
