There we were, 2 of just 14 fortunate enough to participate in Bob Reed’s very
generous offering for a day on Powell, on fantastic boats, and a superb total grouping
of folks.
Many takeaways:
-outstanding crews helping provide a very safe & extremely comfortable full day on the water.
-creature comforts galore. after an entire day, upon return we did not feel the least bit “beat up”,
the axopars are velvet smooth. actual bathrooms, an absolute +++ for the ladies, hot coffee brewed/cup,
obvious temperature controlled cabin for the early morning chill, fresh made ice cream on the return from
Ms.Mary (Bob’s wife), and we were all escorted by none other than Mr.Wayne Gustaveson.
uplakeadventures is the best show in town & on Powell!
We started at 0700 at stateline, got a quick roll call and briefing by Bob, & the flotilla launched. Quickly at 47mph,
we were soon into Last Chance and dropping spoons between 70-95 ft. First hook up of the morn was a walleye,
& the only one for the day. Typical surface temps were 48-52 deg from what we saw. The morn was a bit slow as
expected though large schools were found often. But stripers were caught intermittently and put in the “fish tank”
live well.
Lunchtime had the 3 axopars tethered together where everyone could converse, and of course all fishers engaged
in typical bravado harassment of those on other boats, typical “guy behavior” tossing gentlemenly barbs at each other.
In the later part of the afternoon, a blastoff to Rock Creek Cyn, and very quickly the typical striper frenzy that everyone
loves to enjoy. Live wells & ice chests loaded up quickly. Was an all striper day, except for the solo walleye. Another
tethering & striper fillets were quickly ziplocked & back to stateline.
In the photos, our memories of the great people on the 3 great axopar’s, that enjoyed great camaraderie.
Many typical Powell pics, plus dead fish, etc., & hopefully they won’t end up sideways. Will make small groupings.
Thanks for all that participated.

Fantastic day with Up Lake Adventures yesterday. What a great opportunity.
The Crew so helpful, professional and friendly. Wayne there to support us. The boats totally amazing. They found fish for us and let us catch about all they could fillet before it got too dark.
These boats so incredible for likely all trips but for weather less than perfect just wonderful. It makes the trip up lake to the fish like flying. Really. Fast, quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed conversation, warm drinks and great snacks all the way and all day.
We started in Last Chance Bay I think. Sun barely up and still a little breeze. Stripers did not cooperate for a bit. A walleye did though. I only know exactly how the fishing was from our boat but it was great. Stable, plenty of room, good equipment and a captain willing to hunt for schools. We found a few to catch in the morning. Using spoons jigging up from the bottom. Had a great sandwich lunch with our choice of condiments. Tied up to the other boats so we all could visit. Floating out in the middle of the canyon in now warm sun and calm.
Ended up in I think Rock Creek. We found a great school that either stretched all across the Bay we were in or followed us and the action from hooking many fish. Everyone in the boat hooked stripers. Sometimes three of us at a time. Filled our live well. Then catch and released. The majority of fish were strong and healthy. A few longer ones a touch underfed perhaps but great to catch.
Just my first quick report. Marty.

I too need to add my thanks to Bob and his fantastic crew! What a wonderful time and meeting some of the fantastic wordlings! We sure had a good time on our boat, as I'm sure the others did too. It was great that Wayne was on the adventure, Fun catching up with him, as I'm sure most of us at one time or another have met him before. He has always been so good coming up to everyone, greeting us with that big smile and talking fish and giving great advise on where to fish and what to fish with. I'm sure he has forgotten more about the lake than I will ever know, and I've been going since 1981. Thanks for making "Wayneswords" It's such a great resource.
I hope to see you all on the lake again soon!
Doug
