Hello All, I will be coming up this weekend. We were planning on fishing in Navajo canyon and was wondering if the short cut is still open or do I need to go around past antelope marina area? also if anyone has any info on some other areas to fish would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance john

Castle Rock Cut is open and will stay open through 2017. Last time at the mouth of Navajo and main channel at first light I found scattered stripers feeding on the surface at first light. If we could cast to the splash ring we caught a fish. We used large Rebel jumpin minnows or Ima Skimmer topwater baits.

Thank you very much I'm not real familiar with the lake and where to fish . We usually just go in Navajo canyon by the two islands .ive never went through castle rock cut but was told it's a lot faster then going past antelope marina. Any and all info is greatly appreciated.

Travel to navajo canyon is a bit closer and a lot faster through the Cut. If headed uplake through the narrows then the Cut saves you 12 miles of travel one way. You should try it. Just go directly east from the Main Wahweap Ramp and you will see the Cut.

Thanks Wayne will are most definitely gonna take the cut when we go to Navajo canyon. I've been looking at the map of wahweap ramp and noticed some coves like " ice cream cove" I can't remember the names of the other ones past that one but anyway are they all good fishing spots ?

They are all good at times but right now the stripers are boiling in the bays. Look for them near the Castle Rock Cut early in the morning. After the boil subsides then use a spoons to get the lure down 20-30 feet as the school does under the boat.

Check out my fish report to learn more about smallmouth bass and other opportunities like catching bluegill and cat fishing off the back of the boat.
