Would really like to try boat camping on lake. Couple of guys coming over from Denver in 17.5 Smokercraft, Could you give us the do's and don't on what to bring for a run from Bull frog up to Good hope. Thanks , your videos are the best.
Wolfman, be sure to check out where the mudline is before you go all the way to GHB. Sq

You bet, if you have any other specific questions don't hesitate to ask, everyone is different and you'll no doubt learn and do many things differently from your first time to your second. Virtually all the camping gear we have was bought almost specifically for our lake Powell camping preferences.

Have done the house boat with family last three years, but its a lot of work. Just want to be able to do quick two man trips from Denver. I'm getting a Ford Transit cargo van to set up for camping/ boat towing to hit lakes within a half day drive from Denver. Your videos make it look easy, but I know there's a lot of work that goes into it. Hoping to get away with most of our regular tent camping items. Do you bring a generator for charging batteries on boat. Thanks again.

If backpacking is hard camping and truck camping is easy I'd rate boat camping at Powell in the middle. You'll come to learn some hard truths ha. Here are a few musts

1. Good boat tie down system, good rope and solid rock, bush etc to tie off on. One trick many use is to burry a rock in the sand.

2. Make sure all your food is locked up, raves and or mice will destroy it if not.

3. Secure your tent to a 15/10 level. Don't use stakes, and or put your tent (depending on which one you have) down while away from it.

Anything beyond that I'd say don't forget any fishing stuff. I'd rather forget some of the basic stuff before any of my rods ha.

Thanks that helps, we would charge trolling battery off house boat at night . How long do your batteries last or do you charge them. Have a small Honda genny we could bring.

Our 24 volt system last about two days. We charge gen with a generator as of last trip. Took about three hours

May I suggestt checking out the Nissan NV van? We were in the market a little over a year ago and researched vans pretty heavily. We found the nissan to have one of the best towing capacities and also a 5 year / 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Hopefully in the next year or two it will have a cummins in it. But for now it does well. We just pulled our 35' travel trailer to Moab today from Provo area and it does great even with larger loads. Check it out.

Very nice set up, also have done some research on different vans. Will only be towing 17 .5 aluminum boat and the Ford service network has me thinking that way. Have read that the parts for the Nissan and Dodge Sprinter are constantly on back order. Just wish Ford made the van in 4x4 like the euro model.

Great video. I'm curious to know more about how you are mounting your go pro on the pole by the windshield. Any pointers would be appreciated

Awesome video as always. We got tied up working on the houseboat and then the wind hit last weekend. But I tried that hula for a bit and caught a few around Wahweap. Have you caught any Walleyes with it?

In the next videos you'll see an angle pointing backwards, we use a suction mount with about a foot extension. Our main angle usually pointing forward is on an old window washing telescoping pole, its a two piece that can extend to around ten feet. Its secured in two points along the gunnel by the drivers seat. To me the two most important aspects of any video you actually want to watch is stability and audio. Neither has to be perfect or professional but I think its easy to notice when either one aren't up to par. Makes videos far more enjoyable (to me at least).
