HI all,

Had another fabulous Trash Tracker trip, August 2-6. We cleaned Rock Creek--all three branches, and Friendship Cove. Also along the western shore of the channel. We also cleaned the Antelope Island side of the Cut. What a mess!! I couldn't believe all the unopened beer and soda cans that had washed ashore. Hundreds of plastic bottles, and plenty of floaties.

The only bummer was coming back to my truck in the Stateline parking lot.... I noticed several dents in my left front fender. It looked like someone backed a boat trailer right into my truck. I drove it, and noticed the steering wheel had a shimmy. I took it straight to Big O in Page. They put it on the lift and told me I had a broken ball joint. Someone had to have hit my truck hard to break that! So needless to say, there's no video, no one saw anything, and the damage happened at some point between the morning of Aug. 2nd to the afternoon of Aug. 6th. A park ranger took my statement. There was no note left on my windshield. So I stayed an extra day in Page while the part came in from Phoenix and the truck could get fixed.

So, this volunteer vacation cost me an extra amount for that lovely ball joint, and it also cost me some time on my houseboat, since I was supposed to be on the lake right now. :( I hope whomever hit me also sustained some damage that they get to pay for.

In the meantime, please enjoy some of my pictures from the week.

Tiff

Thanks for all the good work you do. Sorry you had troubles and it cost you. You are appreciated!
And thanks for the great pictures too.

Sorry to hear about your truck. I know I have witnessed damage done in the parking lot before. I just took the license plate number and wrote a note to the person that received the damage. After the person damage a parked vehicle they left to a different spot. I have had this happen to me. I feel your pain.

Thank you so much for what you do to keep LP as beautiful as we all should.

Kudos for picking up and making the effort to clean the lake. Nasty business with your truck.

Thanks for all of your work Tiff. You and your workmates make a serious difference and it is so appreciated. And karma is a bitch. Love the buoy.

Nice load. That seat would fit right in my boat. I hate the saying "no good deed goes unpunished" but sometimes it sure seems that way. Glad you got the truck put back together.

Nice work, you guy are amazing.

I can't believe Bouy 17 was still on the beach. It came loose during a storm a couple weeks ago and ended up on the beach we were camped at. I called the Park service that day and let them know. They did not seem to care and didn't even say thank you. Obviously they really didn't care if they never went and got it off the beach.

Since the damage was the result of a motor vehicle accident, it is now covered by insurance. But, deductible, rates go up, that's always a slippery call.

Thanks for all the work you guys do. Can't believe all the crap people leave behind. You guys camped next to us in the little bay on the west side towards the back of Rock Creek on Friday night. We had the all red boat. Glad to see the big chunk of metal with rebar poking out gone. Thanks again.
