HI all,
Had another fabulous Trash Tracker trip, August 2-6. We cleaned Rock Creek--all three branches, and Friendship Cove. Also along the western shore of the channel. We also cleaned the Antelope Island side of the Cut. What a mess!! I couldn't believe all the unopened beer and soda cans that had washed ashore. Hundreds of plastic bottles, and plenty of floaties.
The only bummer was coming back to my truck in the Stateline parking lot.... I noticed several dents in my left front fender. It looked like someone backed a boat trailer right into my truck. I drove it, and noticed the steering wheel had a shimmy. I took it straight to Big O in Page. They put it on the lift and told me I had a broken ball joint. Someone had to have hit my truck hard to break that! So needless to say, there's no video, no one saw anything, and the damage happened at some point between the morning of Aug. 2nd to the afternoon of Aug. 6th. A park ranger took my statement. There was no note left on my windshield. So I stayed an extra day in Page while the part came in from Phoenix and the truck could get fixed.
So, this volunteer vacation cost me an extra amount for that lovely ball joint, and it also cost me some time on my houseboat, since I was supposed to be on the lake right now.
I hope whomever hit me also sustained some damage that they get to pay for.
In the meantime, please enjoy some of my pictures from the week.
